Woman's Club of Aransas County Open House & Book Signing

The Woman’s Club of Aransas County invites you to Open House on Saturday, August 25, 2018. We are commemorating our 70th year of “Friendship, Fellowship, and Service to the Community.”  Please come by from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for refreshments and to view historical memorabilia of The Woman’s Club.

In addition to the Open House, The Woman’s Club is hosting two events as part of the Hurricane Harvey Anniversary weekend.  Join us to meet two authors who have published books about Harvey.  Rockport Pilot Editor Mike Probst will be signing his book “Harvey Hit Here” which is a pictorial chronology of events.  Woman’s Club member Suzy Reuber will also be there signing her compilation of memories, “Not Gone With the Wind”. 

Also, Author Skoot Larson will be signing two fiction novels which were strongly influenced by Hurricane Harvey:  "Johnny’s So Long at the Fair" and "King Irv and the Viking Marauders". 

In addition, The Woman’s Club will have an exhibit of Hurricane Harvey pictures.  Pictures will be displayed by featured Rockport photographers Maria Nesbit and Carol Roth and John Martell. 

Maria Nesbit has a studio in Rockport and her exhibit will include her popular picture “We Will Rebuild”.  Carol Roth winters in Rockport and exhibits at local venues here.  Her picture “Resilience” is featured in the exhibition.  Also, there will be a digital slideshow by local photographer John Martell.  His presentation includes pictures of Rockport/Fulton before and after the storm.  In addition, there will be other displays of Harvey related pictures.

Texas Photo Renovators is an all-volunteer group that digitally restores photos that were damaged by water during the hurricane/flood.  If you have need of this free service, come by to discuss the process with one of the volunteers.
