Set sail into Texas’s maritime past with our next Winter Lecture Series program, “TNS Zavala & The Three Texas Navies,” presented by Brad Chilcote, on Monday, March 23rd, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. This engaging lecture explores the story of the TNS Zavala and the broader history of the three Texas navies, highlighting their roles in defending the coast, supporting independence, and shaping Texas’s maritime identity. Brad Chilcote will provide historical context and insight into how these naval forces operated and why they mattered, offering a compelling look at a lesser-known but vital aspect of Texas history. Perfect for history enthusiasts and maritime fans alike, the presentation connects ships, people, and events to the larger story of Texas on the Gulf. The lecture will conclude with a Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the speaker. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted. Enjoy coffee and light refreshments, generously provided by H-E-B and Duck Blind Coffee, whose generous support makes this Winter Lecture Series possible.
