Description
Join us for the conclusion of our Winter Lecture Series with a fascinating look at early Texas maritime history in “The Port Town of La Salle,” presented by David Kroskie, on Monday, March 30th, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, the final lecture in our 2026 series. This engaging presentation explores the story of the Port Town of La Salle and its role in the early development of the Texas coast. David Kroskie will examine the historical significance of this short-lived but influential settlement, shedding light on how ports, trade, and ambition shaped Texas’s maritime beginnings. The lecture offers insight into the people, geography, and circumstances that made La Salle an important chapter in the state’s coastal history. As the concluding program of the season, this lecture provides a fitting close to a series dedicated to Texas and maritime history. A Q&A session will follow, giving attendees the opportunity to reflect on the topic and engage directly with the speaker. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted. Enjoy coffee and light refreshments, generously provided by H-E-B and Duck Blind Coffee, whose continued support helps make this Winter Lecture Series possible. Join us for this special final lecture and help us wrap up a memorable season of learning, history, and community.
