The Leading Ladies "Women in Business" event is a part of the Leading Ladies program series and network platform dedicated to inspiring, empowering, and connecting women. Our mission is to create connections with a supportive community of professional women who can inspire and influence each other to achieve their goals.
At the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, we believe that women have the power to make a positive impact in their careers and communities, and we are committed to providing the resources and connections necessary to make that happen.

Like many women in the 60’s, Kathryn Childers earned a degree in elementary education and was expected to find a husband and quietly settle down. Instead, she admitted she could type and snagged a secretarial job with a Congressman in Washington. Not her dream job, but a chance to experience one of the most turbulent times in our nation's history.General Admission is $75 a seat. Tables can be purchased under sponsorship "Lets Go Girls"
OUR FEATURED SPEAKER KATHRYN CHILDERS
Kathryn applied and was hired as one of the first female U.S. Secret Service agents in 1970. She was assigned to the Kennedy children’s detail traveling with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and President Nixon and the First Family, as well as foreign dignitaries. She also worked criminal investigations and counterfeiting, and investigated threats against the President.
Kathryn went on to other impressive chapters. She hosted her own live television show for 18 years and started a publishing company from scratch on her American Express card. As an award-winning community advocate, Kathryn received national recognition for founding a program that provided more than 20,000 free mammograms to women in need. Kathryn also brought miles of smiles to patients clowning at a local children’s hospital with a troupe of professional women. It’s no surprise her persona is “Sassy the Sheriff” complete with boots, spurs and a big red nose.
Armed with her personal mantra, “Do It Scared!,” Kathryn has navigated uncharted waters with a dead-eye aim and a sense of humor … forging a lifetime of adventure most would be afraid to dream of. Today, she travels the world coaching audiences to face challenges head on and leave life’s “shoulda, coulda, woulda’s” in the dust!
