Awards Committee - Reviews Selection Criteria
Citizen of the Year
This is a countywide award, with the entire citizenry as its field of selection. The recipients of the award should be a man or a woman
truly outstanding in all areas. Sectional and neighborhood level accomplishments should be considered, but primary consideration
should be given to accomplishments, which affect the entire county. All types of involvement should be considered: developmental,
humanitarian, civic, inspirational, leadership, etc. This person is someone whose influence and whose activities are felt throughout all
portions of the community. A recipient could be as readily a “background” person as an “upfront” community leader. In addition to
specific services performed for the community, the recipient should be a person who by their presence inspires those around them to
better serve their community, a person who is a “cornerstone” of the community and influential in its best endeavors. Elected
Officials, the Chairman and Chairman-Elect of the Board of the Chamber, and Groups or Organizations are not eligible. Only an
individual person per award.
Chamber Member of the Year
This person should be committed to the mission of this Chamber of Commerce. This person should be a person who has been an
innovator toward the improvement of the chamber, its programs and activities, financial status and overall accomplishment toward the
goals set forth by the Board of Directors. This person is a person you have seen throughout the year involved in making activities and
programs happen for the Chamber. Elected Officials, the Chairman and Chairman-Elect of the Board of the Chamber, and Groups or
Organizations are not eligible. Only an individual person per award.
Non-Profit Chamber Member Organization of the Year
This organization should be one that is always “front and center” in the community with its activities. It should operate exclusively
for charitable, service and/or educational purposes. The organization could perform specific services for our county, or it could be
an organization that focuses on attracting more visitors to Rockport and Fulton. The organization must have been in existence for at
least two years to qualify for this award. The organization must be a member of the chamber to be considered for the award. The
Business Builders will submit a slate of a minimum of five nominations to the selection committee consisting of specific members
in the following positions: Aransas County Judge, Mayor of Rockport, Mayor of Fulton, School Board President, Aransas
County Navigation District Chairman, and Past Chairman, Chairman, and Chairman-Elect of the Board of the Chamber.
For Hometown Hero Nominations, send email with paragraph explaining why your nominee should receive the award to
president@1rockport.org. The Nominating Committee will review and make recommendations to the Selection Committee.
