2026 Annual Crab Trap Removal Program

Description

Each year, the TPWD closes the coast to crab fishing for 10 days for the Annual Texas Abandoned Crab Trap Removal Program, helping clear derelict traps from coastal waters, reducing threats to wildlife and supporting healthier bays. San Antonio Bay Partnership supports these efforts orchestrating the derelict crab trap removal for the Texas Mid-Coast. In the 2025 Abandoned Crab Trap Removal Program, the San Antonio Bay Partnership's volunteers helped remove 1,040 abandoned crab traps and 155 loose crab trap floats from the bay using 58 boats and 158 volunteer hours. San Antonio Bay Partnership is a Texan by Nature conservation partner.
