Description
5th Anniversary of Hurricane HarveyFive years ago, the people of Rockport-Fulton braced themselves for the worst. On August 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey came roaring ashore like a freight train. Turns out that hurricane did more than blow away buildings: it uncovered a community that was stronger than any storm.
To honor the effort it took to bring this coastal gem back to life, the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center, and the Rockport-Fulton Chamber Foundation have created an interactive experience called ROCK SOLID: Our Journey of Resilience.
Created by a highly regarded member of the team at Austin’s Bob Bullock Museum, the exhibit features the timeline of Hurricane Harvey’s approach, the outpouring of generosity from across the country, videos and demonstrations of lessons learned, acts of human kindness that took the breath away of local residents, the story of the monumental mountains of debris and, a reflection of the silver linings that emerged.
The public is encouraged to stop by the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center and see firsthand the journey of resilience that ROCK SOLID people like you helped make possible.
Rockport-Fulton Visitor's Center, 319 Broadway St. Across from Rockport Harbor. Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon-Fri
