A Conversation between Allies: American and South Vietnamese Veterans

It’s been decades since the Vietnam War.  Some American veterans vow never to set foot in Vietnam again.  Others go back to heal, to find closure or to revisit the areas of battle and salute lost comrades. Most of them want to see firsthand how things turned out after they left there.

On the other hand, following the fall of Saigon in April, 1975, thousands of South Vietnamese soldiers were forced to leave the country and immigrated to the United States.  Some have never returned to visit Vietnam.  In fact, some of them found new homes in Aransas County and surrounding areas of the Coastal Bend.

The History Center and the Rockport Cultural Arts District have partnered to bring this program where local veteran speakers will share personal reflections of their battlefleld experiences.  Lieutenant Colonel Tran, Quoc Anh, a current U.S. Army Reserve member, a Houston Special Operations Rescue Firefighter and President of the Vietnamese Houston Community will serve as real time translator and moderator between veterans.

Come listen to the Corpus Christi Veterans Band perform from 1:30pm-2pm followed by the veterans’ personal conversation from 2pm-4pm. Refreshments are served. Free admission.
